"This album tells the story of my leap of faith to start a life in Los Angeles. It's my story. It covers the highs and lows, the beauty and the struggle, and wraps it up into a pretty little bow.”

Heather Gruber has written an album that somehow manages to uplift and inspire while she sings of her heartbreak, hardships, setbacks, self-doubt and failures, all with a smile in her voice and hope in her heart.  This kind of honesty mixed with an almost manic ability to turn her frown upside down is pretty remarkable.  It’s also very, very addictive…

With sounds inspired by Regina Spektor, Sara Barielles and a touch of Alanis Morrissette, Heather finds her own very distinctive voice.  Clear and pure, with just a touch of her Texan country roots.  Sweet harmonies, quirky flickering vibrato, but nothing contrived or artificial.  No, this feels authentic and deeply personal.  The journey Heather writes about, from Tennessee to L.A., from love to loss, from confusion to whatever’s next, is beautifully laid out in these really excellent arrangements.

What seems at first like simple singer-songwriter tracks evolve into much more.  Pop, jazz, country, folk, all expertly mixed together.  Her ukulele playing along with some great piano, cello and drums, she even tricks us into some gorgeous R&B.

This is a wonderful album.  A surprise in fact, full of love and endearing openness.

Heather Gruber’s sound is shining, soft, soulful and unique and lifts us up above all this dark noise around us…I loved it!
