There are many among us who have heard about the bait word ‘antioxidant’ and have bought beauty and health products which includes them without knowing how this mysterious thing benefits our body. Let’s clear it! Antioxidants are like bodyguards which safeguard the human body cells from getting damaged leading to different harmful diseases and premature ageing. Antioxidants reduce toxic radicals and molecules which play a pivotal role in the occurrence of cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s.

Unless you eat your antioxidants right which include the right level of lipoic acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin D and E, you won’t be able to take care of your body. Here are few foods that are rich in antioxidants.

#1: BLACKBERRIES

There are many antioxidants which are plant compounds like polyphenols and which you find in the dark purple berries. They are connected with a slower decline of motor skills and cognitive skills with aging. If you take blackberries, they also get power from Vitamin C, not to mention the value which one cup of fiber (7 grams) can give you when you take it regularly.

#2: DARK CHOCOLATE

If you’re a chocolate lover, there’s good news for you! If you wish to indulge in your chocolate love every now and then, there’s nothing wrong in it as chocolates are healthy. Cocoa and dark chocolates pack a punch of antioxidants and they are also rich in polyphenols and flavanols. As per a study by Harvard experts which was published by Journal Heart, it suggests that dark chocolate is good for your heart as it has got 70% cocoa.

#3: KIDNEY BEANS

All sorts of beans, pinto, black, red and kidney beans are high sources of antioxidants. If you wish to have protein which boosts muscles and has no fat and cholesterol, kidney beans are the best. When you can combine such kidney beans with grains, this will make it a complete source of protein. You can utilize them in sandwiches and in case you find it tough to digest, have enough fluids through the entire day.

#4: WALNUTS

Walnuts are not only a good source of fiber, protein and manganese, but they are also full of healthy unsaturated fats which are great for your health, like all other nuts. But when you compare walnuts to other types of nuts, walnuts are especially rich in alpha-linolenic acid, which is a kind of omega-3 fatty acid which is usually found in plants.
