Six Reasons to Add Camping to Your Bucket List

Have you ever wanted to experience true darkness and sleep directly under the stars? Well, one of the least expensive ways to do that is by camping. Does cooking dinner over an open fire appeal to you? Certainly, camping is not for everyone. Yet, it is not as difficult as you think.

You don't have to do it Bear Grylls style. You can make it as comfortable as you like. If you visit any outdoors store, you will be surprised at how many gadgets and furnishings are sold to turn camping into glamping. So, you can get what you need to feel comfortable. Now, let's move on to why you should go camping.

Escape the grime of the city

Sure, the city is exciting with its bright lights and incessant movement. At the same time, it can also be taxing on your health and well-being. Living in crowded spaces is fun for only so long. We all need some personal space, as well as peace and quiet every now and then.

With a camping trip, you can do nothing for a weekend or longer. Once you have set up your tent and campsite, you don't have to worry about doing laundry or figuring out what to eat, fixing your hair or going grocery shopping. All you have to do is sit back and relax.

Enjoy a national park

There is something magical about visiting a national park. You get to see untouched and natural vistas. And, it doesn't have to cost a cent to get in. According to Outdoorsy, the Airbnb for RVs, there are 10 free national park days in 2017.

So, all you have to do is reserve a campsite for around $15. That is a lot cheaper than the average cost of a hotel room. Plus, you'll have plenty of space for you, your family and friends. You will feel like you can move around and be yourself.

You can be completely unplugged

Yes, the Internet is an amazing place. Yet, it can be even more wonderful to turn off your devices and live in the moment. The minute you don't have to worry about a text or Facebook likes is an experience in true freedom.

And, you can stray from that feeling that a pond would make an exceptional Instagram. You can just live in the present. Of course, you can bring your phone with you for emergencies. Just turn it off so that you don't kill the battery.

Forget counting calories

Our ancestors didn't bother counting calories because they had to work for their food. These days, with our technology-infused lives, we're sitting around most of the day. As a result, we can't consume as much food unless we force ourselves to get more active. It's a vicious cycle.

When you go camping, you will be naturally active from setting up your tents to hiking and exploring to paddling and even fishing. Living without as many conveniences and technologies means you need to get more physical during the day. You'll naturally burn the calories and enjoy your food even more.

Campfires

One of the biggest perks of camping are the campfires. They provide great lighting, keep bugs away, and are fun for cooking. Plus, they were our first form of entertainment.

Stars

If you live in the city, you may only see a handful of stars on a good night. When you go camping, you have a much better opportunity to see many stars in all their glory. In addition, you can see the patterns of the stars. This is a view that never gets old. Who doesn't want to sleep under the stars?

Camping is something few get to experience but never forget. If it isn’t on your bucket list, it should be.
