Changes for the UCNH Chamber of Commerce

Written by
Serving as President of the Universal City North Hollywood Chamber of Chamber in 2010 has been an honor. We started the year off with our Centennial Celebration up at NBC Universal. It was a delight to see so many chamber past presidents and board members and community stakeholders from decade after decade show up.
It was through their passion and hard work that our area is today going through the incredible transformation that it's going through. We released our Centennial Directory which magnificently details the history of our area and the excitement of the arts district today along with information on our chamber businesses. We had fun with our monthly Friday night Theater Club supporting local shows and artists. And, we ended the year perfectly at the Beverly Garland with an informative Economic Town Hall featuring City Council Members, CRA and VEDC reps, and an economic expert from CSUN.

The Chamber would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of Patti Lippel, our Office Manager of 4 years.  We are excited to announce that Michelle Gilstrap accepted the position of full time Executive Director of our Chamber starting in January 2011.
Michelle's past accomplishments include the Membership Development Director for the Los Angeles Rotary Club, LA 5, in Downtown, Los Angeles from 2007- 2009. Previously to that position, she was the Membership Director for the Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce, formerly, the Mid Valley Chamber of Commerce from 2005-2007.  She conducts seminars for corporations and non-profits on How to Give Effective Presentations and the basics of Social Media: Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn with her consulting company, M.C.G. Consultants. She is the current President of the Women’s National Book Association, Los Angeles Chapter and is planning the LA Bookwoman Day on Feb. 26 at Marina Del Rey Hotel with the Board of Directors for the LA Chapter.

Her strategic goals for the Universal City North Hollywood Chamber will be to increase visibility throughout the community with a targeted approach utilizing our events, membership building, social media and one-on-one visits with our members to let our members know we are there providing them the services that will help them with their business needs.
It will be her mission to make sure all of our members are aware what we do for them, and how they can help the Chamber grow to serve even more areas by their involvement.  She is excited about building up the Ambassador Committee to work with our new Members and help us grow Membership and Retention for the Chamber.
All that said, I wish everybody out there a healthy and successful 2011. Let’s not lose our focus on making the Universal City North Hollywood area a world class destination where business, community, and the arts thrive!
Happy New Year,
