by
LAPD
Officer
Catalano
As the
Senior
Lead
Officer
for the
NoHo
Arts
district
and its
immediate
surrounding
areas, I
am
directly
responsible
for
addressing
the
community
concerns
and
complaints.
This
includes
the
public
safety
issues
as well
as the
everyday
factors
that
effect
the
quality
of life
for our
diverse
residential
and
business
community.
As an
Officer
in this
division
for over
10
years, I
have
seen a
lot of
changes
take
place in
the
North
Hollywood
Arts
community.
Most
changes
are
improvements.
However,
for the
changes
that are
not, we
have a
lot of
work
ahead of
us. The
Department
is
looking
for its
community
members
to work
together
with the
police
so we
can
continue
to make
positive
strides.
Over the
last few
months,
noticeable
changes
have
taken
place.
The
North
Hollywood
Park,
who some
feel has
been
ignored
for too
long,
has been
a major
focus of
police
attention.
We are
now
starting
to see
the
results
of all
the hard
work.
Finally,
positive
calls
are
coming
in from
people
who can
really
see a
difference.
The
crime
statistics
have
dramatically
decreased
in and
around
the
area.
This is
a direct
result
of not
only the
police
but from
the
various
shelters
and
homeless
outreach
programs
that
have
assisted
us with
the less
fortunate,
who
regularly
used the
North
Hollywood
Park as
a
sanctuary.
Working
together
with the
police,
39
individuals
were
recently
placed
with
housing
and
other
services
so
desperately
needed.
The
attention
from the
police
as well
as all
the
other
city
entities,
benefit
our
entire
community.
Each day
more and
more
people
are
utilizing
the
services
of the
North
Hollywood
Park as
well as
the
surrounding
business
along
Magnolia
Boulevard.
As the
crime
and
blight
continue
to
decrease,
we will
continue
to
provide
the
police
presence
needed
in an
effort
to
maintain
the
positive
changes
to date.
The
Police
Department
is
currently
working
closely
with the
Counsel
Office
of Tom
LaBonge.
Together,
we would
like to
see
lighting
placed
throughout
the
North
Hollywood
Park.
This is
the next
step in
the
continuous
effort
to
improving
our
community.
I look
forward
to
providing
you a
monthly
community
update.
Various
crime
related
issues,
updates
and
complaints
will be
addressed
in the
future.
If you
have a
question
that you
would
like to
ask
Officer
Catalano,
please
email
him at
