In NoHo we
celebrate and support all art forms in our growing theatre
and arts district. Well, the healing
arts are definitely one of them and deserve our devoted
attention. This month, either you are hanging on to the
last drops of sun or are preparing for “back to school” and
the rigors of fall. Why not take this time to get (your)
“back” in shape. We only have one back, and we would be
pretty useless if couldn’t use it!
NoHoArtsDistrict.Com picks Dr. Mike Onkels Chiropractic
Office for its gentle, high-quality chiropractic care.
Why the art of chiropractic healing?
One
of the most common questions Dr. Onkels gets is “What is the
reason for a back injury?” His answer is that sometimes it
is a single, traumatic event, such as a car accident. But
many times it is all the little bumps, bruises and bad
habits we have had for the past 20, 30 years. Just look at
typical two-year olds and count how many times they fall,
and then we grow up, think of all the times we got a minor
injury in gym class or in sports. Add your bad postural
habits at school or your desk at work to the picture. Top it
off with the little fender benders you never thought much of
and you start to get the idea!
So back problems (and most of our health problems) start
early and won’t go away unless we address them. That is why
chiropractic care is so important. Albert Einstein once said
the definition of Insanity is “doing the same thing over and
over again and expecting different results.” So to think
that your back problems will magically go away over time is
untrue. So get adjusted today and start taking care of those
old problems! You don’t have to be an ‘Einstein’ to realize
that your health is your most important asset!
Dr. Onkels’ practice centers on gentle chiropractic care
that focuses on correcting not only spinal dysfunction but
also on cranial and visceral function. Cranial work is
beneficial to most everyone, but those who suffer from
chronic pain, headaches, TMJ pain, emotional inconsistencies
and many other symptoms come to understand that there is an
answer to their problems.
Dr. Onkels focuses on chiropractic adjustments as they
affect all parts of the nervous system. However,
physiotherapy, muscular re-education, nutritional products
and counseling are also offered. He specializes in the
Sacro-Occipital Technique, which is a highly specific
chiropractic adjusting method. Using this method we are able
to address many chronic injuries or conditions, especially
TMJ (jaw) dysfunction. Michael Onkels Chiropractic office
works closely with some of the top professionals in the
country to help treat jaw problems. This includes a network
of dentists, orthodontists, holistic medical doctors and
many other specialties.
Dr.
Michael Onkels graduated with two degrees from Cleveland
Chiropractic College Los Angeles. He earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in Human Biology in addition to his Doctor of
Chiropractic degree. After serving as President of the
Sacro-Occipital Technique on campus for four terms he was
fascinated with the system of healing it offered to the
patient. Currently his office operates with Cranial-dental
expert Richard Gerardo, D.C. to form a chiropractic practice
that is unlike all others. A relaxing, calm environment
emanates from his practice of S.O.T. A caring and listening
attitude provides you with the care you deserve.
This is not to say that they won’t challenge you as a person
and a patient. Healing requires many ingredients and one of
those is you. With Dr. Onkels expertise you will be given a
number of ways to help maintain your health. From stretches
to nutrition to postural habits he will give you personal
guidance.
