Ultra Violet; 2018 Color of the Year

Each year the color experts forecast the next big color.

You’ll see that color in fashion, interior décor and accessories.

This year is no different. Pantone has announced the color of the year as being 18-3838 Ultra Violet. This color holds a regal, stately and mystical nuance.  It envelops a rich and royal feeling in almost everything using that color. It was even the signature color of one of the greatest musicians of all time; Prince.

However, using this color for some is a bold move and for others just second nature.

You’ll see this in many fabrics such as florals, jacquards, silks and rich velvets.  I’ve created a few rooms around various shades of violet to create a soothing and relaxing mood.

For those who are a bit bolder, a sofa, draperies or even an area rug will set the stage for a perfect room.

Accessory pillows, flowers, a vase and even a beautiful frame might just do it for some.  This color says a lot, so use it sparingly if needed.

And remember this color is on trend today and all of 2018.
