Things to Refresh Your Space

Over the past few weeks I’ve been asked a few times how to freshen up a space.

It’s pretty easy once you make a plan with what you want to change and how. Here are just a few tips to get you going.

before and after dining room

before and after living room

  1. Soft goods is an easy place to start. Take a look at your accent pillows, area rugs and even draperies. Coordinating your fabrics will create a cohesive look and feel in any room. Start with a color palate you find invigorating, soothing or even relaxing. Find your area rug first as they usually have many colors in the pattern. Next add your drapery panels. There are so many ready-made options today that you can have a custom look for a very good price. Then add you accent pillows. It’s a layer you can really have fun with.

  2. Next try to add new lighting. If you don’t want to change the entire lamp, try to just update your shades. That in its self, can change your lighting.

  3. Art and accessories. Adding a few new pieces or even rearranging what you have can make a room feel new again. If you have a collection of accessories, rotate your ‘stock’ to keep the space fresh.

Just remember to have fun decorating your space. It’s a reflection of who you are so make it your own.
